Psi Iota Xi and Hear Indiana Scholarship Endowment

The current Psi Iota Xi Long-Term Project is for an endowment gift of $100,000.00 to create the Psi Iota Xi and Hear Indiana Scholarship. The intention is to encourage first-year graduate students to commit to working with deaf and hard of hearing children. Our shared goal is to increase the number of qualified professionals in Indiana and the surrounding states. To this end, the application process would be open to audiology (AuD) or speech-language pathology (SLP) students who live or attend school in any of the states with Psi Iota Xi chapters. This scholarship would be awarded annually to at least one graduate student in the field of audiology and/or speech-language pathology. Specifically, the award will be given to a clinician who plans to specialize in treating deaf and hard of hearing children who seek audiological treatment or need specialized speech therapy (Listening and Spoken Language Therapy).

The gift will be placed in a separate, permanently restricted endowment. In other words, the corpus would never be touched, but the annual interest shall be used for the yearly scholarship award.

The Psi Iota Xi and Hear Indiana Scholarship will stand in perpetuity as a monument to Psi Iota Xi’s investment in ensuring equal opportunities for children with hearing loss.

Terri Resler, Ellyn McCall, Mickie Hansen - LTP Check Presentation — Hear Indiana was presented with a check from Psi Iota Xi for $15, 000 at the 2025 Psi Iota Xi National Convention as a part of the ongoing Long-Term Project. The funds will go towards Hear Indiana scholarship opportunities for speech-language pathology or doctor of audiology graduate students pursuing the study of Listening and Spoken Language.
